Iron Fists
Fly away, little bird
Fly away
Save yourself, little one
Get away
Years of fantasy
A New beginning
Damsel in distress
And fairy-tale ending
Fly away little bird, fly away
Living inside
White picket fences
No stains on the glass
No hidden offences
Until his shadow
Rose up from the earth
A massive eruption
A quaking of birth
Fly away little bird, fly away
All grown-up
Her prince had come
To love and protect
She was so young
He had opened the door
The key to her heart
Once thought a prince
Handsome and smart
Fly away little bird, fly away
The earth crumbling
Under her feet
Virginity lost
Blood stained sheets
Bed of roses
Full of thorns
Cherries picked
Amidst the storms
Fly away little bird, fly away
A rude awakening
Emotional decay
Corroding all dreams
Spiritual dismay
Innocence lost
Along with dignity
Rape of the mind
Darkened spirituality
Fly away little bird, fly away
Bound and gagged
Forced to comply
Emotionally scarred
Wondering why?
No more rose gardens
Only a crown of thorns
Innocence snatched away
It was shame, she now adorned
Fly away little bird, fly away
Little bird didn’t know
She couldn’t resist
Locked behind the fence
Chained to iron fists
Beyond the picket fence
Reality check
Eyes pried opened
Years of neglect
Fly away little bird, fly away
Desert oasis
Rose colored glasses
Optical illusion
Fooled by the masses
Years later
Inside her cage
Her life stolen
She is enraged
Fly away little bird, fly away
Beaten and broken
What might have been?
How would it be
To be rid of him?
He ruined her life
She had a chance
Stabbing him
She took his life
Fly away little bird, fly away
Exchanged one cage
For another
And now
She is labeled
A murderer
Fly away little bird, fly away

Website PostsI find myself "Dancing With Cancer", problem is...I can't dance. I stumble, bumble, and get pulled along. To keep my sanity, (humor me), I write short stories, a journal, musings and poetry....just about anything goes.
