Walking The Shadows

Family keeps me going

Writing keeps me alive

You keep me focused

You give me drive

When I walk the shadows

You show me the light

Taking my hand into yours

Guiding throughout the night

You ease my fears

While lighting my path

Taking me out of the cold

You are my rod and staff

Courage you give

Comfort you offer

I lean on your shoulder

We tread softer

Into the darkness

Unable to stop

An upward climb

Reaching for the top

Unable to see the end

But when the clouds clear

I open my eyes

I see you are near

Never leaving my side

Though the shadows still linger

I look toward the flame

Knowing I’ve been blessed

Knowing you reign

In this life and the next

In the shadows and the flame

I find myself "Dancing With Cancer", problem is...I can't dance. I stumble, bumble, and get pulled along. To keep my sanity, (humor me), I write short stories, a journal, musings and poetry....just about anything goes.

Another beautiful piece. I do appreciate my visits here – always a poem to set me thinking. 🙂

    A great family tribute, Renee.
