Eternally Blue

Way down yonder, there sits a chair

My deceitful lover sits down there

He takes many a gal upon his knees

He told her things he used to tell me

The was a magical flower, some say

Will heal the heart right away

Up to the meadow she sprang

To pick every flower of the land

She grabbed red and blue

So many there, all covered with dew

Purple and, she picked every one she found

Soon she was tired, could no longer get around

Te heavens came down, gentle to cover

Quietly she lay, nae a word was spoken

Flowers clasped in both hands, her heart was broken

When news traveled to her false love,

So relieved am I, he smiled and said

In her grave, I hope she stays eternal

What a wretched thing you say

She’s loved you many, many days

Your soul will burn deep in the flames

While hers will sleep among the clouds

Go and dig her a grave, make it deep

Give a marble slab for her head and feet

Place upon her breast a turtledove

Twill show the world of her love

Forever to hold a dove of blue

Showing the world what love can do

It can be so good and so true

But it can cause pain, eternally blue
