Under Attack

Gingerbread house, lilac breezes

Putting up the fight

Big, proud, strong

Hiding in the house

Small, scared, alone

White picket fence

Gingerbread house

Open the doors

Frightened little mouse

Perfect display

On the outside

Fragile and timid

On the inside

Life in a balance

Life out of whack

Delicate and strong

Under attack

Always putting on

The strong face

When so feeling tired

And out-of-place

Wishing I could

Lay my head

On a soft pillow

Relax under the strain

Dream of weeping willows

Swinging on the vines

As a summer child

Not a care in the world

Running free and wild

Sweet honeysuckle

Lilac breezes

Signaled spring is here

Ice cream freezes

Better enjoy now

Fall of life

Just around the bend

A final blast of color

Beginning an end

Everything fades

Winter bug bites

Turning me blue

Reminders of

Summer’s last bloom

Putting up the fight

Big, proud, strong

Hiding in the house

Small, scared, alone

White picket fence

Gingerbread house

Open the doors

It is all a reflection

A mental projection

What is seen with the eye

Not always what is seen

With the heart

Flowers blooming in the air

Someone mourning in despair

Beauty can be such a

Terrible thing

A bandaged wound

Covering a soul

Who can no longer sing

Faded away

No more spring

Summer long gone

Wintry blues

Cold and alone

Longing for love

Longing for you

I find myself "Dancing With Cancer", problem is...I can't dance. I stumble, bumble, and get pulled along. To keep my sanity, (humor me), I write short stories, a journal, musings and poetry....just about anything goes.
