Dewdrop Tears

Is a dewdrop nature’s tear?

Perhaps overjoyed

Overcome with a sweet emotion

A tear can’t help but to be deployed

Nature’s happiness expressed

While watching a hatchling

Clumsily attempting to leave the nest

Eventually the happy tear

Will slide down a the stem of a rose

Into the anxious open mouth of a mouse

Oops! It missed!-instead wetting its nose

The mouse will try collecting

A few more drops

Until content and like a drunk he flops

Happily atop a nest of leaves

Made by someone else, Certainly not he

Our little friend much too lazy

Too many years and too many nuts

Leaving him old and a bit crazy

Nature twinkles as she watches

So bemused with mouse antics

If only more would stop to notice

Stop rushing all around in a panic

Instead it seems, many  prefer

The dewdrop to be the product of pain

It gives much more to look forward to

Anxious, they are to be entertained

Many enjoy watching the hatchling

Tiny little bird, wobbling out of the nest

Not sure what wings are for

Bravely venturing out for a test

No longer safe at home with mother

Babe exposed to nature’s elements

Bug-eyed chick flaps and twitters

A cat leaps out atop of the baby

And while tiny feathers are still aflutter

Cat gets  mouthful and proudly grins

Kitty stretched and pranced, quite pleased with herself

Hoping for another easy meal

Licking her chops, she watches the nest

Hoping another chick will soon be revealed

Patience does seem to pay off, to the cat’s surprise

With a silly old mouse who seems more simple than wise

Lazily the mouse wonders, not a care in his brain

Patting his fat belly and farting from the strain

The cat moves not one whisker, nor does she make one sound

Content watching the drunken mouse

Rolling around on the ground

Cat pretends not to see, feigning eyes are in a lull

However third eye always alert and awake

Delighted with himself, fat Mouse continues to roll

Casually the cat lays down, not noticing the mouse at all

Soon she is sound asleep, mouth agape and then falls

Mouse begins to chuckle as the cat snores

A fine meal such as he, completely ignored

The mouse just had to play, he just couldn’t resist

While cat’s mouth was agape, mouse leaped over it

Mouse laughed and laughed, holding his belly

Tears rolling down his cheeks and laughing at his folly

Soon the mouse did cartwheels and flips

Over and over cat teeth and lips

Of course it wasn’t long before

The mouse was crying in cat’s belly

Patience and wisdom had paid off

With a meal rather filling

The cat curled under the plant still moist with

Nature’s dew

Nature twinkles as she watches

So bemused with cat antics

If only more would stop to notice

Stop rushing all around in a panic

I find myself "Dancing With Cancer", problem is...I can't dance. I stumble, bumble, and get pulled along. To keep my sanity, (humor me), I write short stories, a journal, musings and poetry....just about anything goes.
